Sergei Lavrov, Russian Foreign Minister said that Western sanctions against Iran and discussion of a possible attack destabilize efforts to revitalize discussions aimed at making certain it does not develop nuclear weapons.
Talking to his yearly news conference, Lavrov said Western nations must concentrate on endeavors to revive long-resting discussions between international powers and Tehran "and not on sanctions, keep away from threats to use force".

"On the opportunities of whether this disaster will take place or not you should ask those who again and again discuss about this," Lavrov said.
Israel has frequently said it could strike Iran to end it developing nuclear weapons, and strain has mounted following an Iranian warning to block the Strait of Hormuz, a central oil shipping lane, if sanctions put off it exporting oil.
Lavrov highlighted Russia's opposition to added UN Security Council or Western sanctions against Iran over its nuclear program, which the United States and its European partners alarm is aimed at making weapons.
"All possible sanctions that could influence Iran's conduct in the nuclear field... have been worn out" Lavrov said.
Added sanctions "are meant at creating a strangling effect on the Iranian economy and the condition of the Iranian people, likely the hope of aggravating unhappiness," he said.
