Barack 'No Drama' Obama adopts a position on debt and ultimately loses his cool

It has used up two and a half years, but Barack "no drama" Obama has ultimately mislaid his cool.

He has gone from a meeting with Republican congressional representatives on deficit fall, asking them "enough was enough".

It was the fourth such meeting in as several days to end unproductively, and the president's growing irritation had been clear.

In a press conference on Monday he ruled out a provisional contract on enhancing the US debt limit, persisting "we might as well do it now – pull off the Band-Aid, eat our peas".

"They're in one week and they're out one week," he said, making his disturbance plain. "You require being here. I have been here. I've been doing Afghanistan and bin Laden and the Greek disaster. You keep on here. Let's get it done.

"Moderates will ask what took him so long.  Behind the public choice on health care, not succeeding to shut down Guantánamo, expanding Bush tax cuts for the -rich none of this reason the eminently cool operator in the White House to lose his rag. He has frequently been accused of additional objectivity, of failing to empathies with the dilemma of common Americans.

But the outlook of the US losing its higher credit rating, of not succeeding to arrange Social Security payments, of defaulting on loans, was over. My feeling is that he may have picked the correct issue on which to make a stand.

Mr. Obama reportedly said before he stormed out that his presidency might be ruined by failing to reach a deal, but the Republicans would be stupid to be saddled with the fault for driving the country further into the swamp.
