The lesson of this story?
Always get more than enough signatures!
Two Democratic candidates for justice of the peace — including an embattled two-term incumbent — and one district judge hopeful have been disqualified from the May 29 primary ballot due to insufficient petition signatures, party officials said Monday.
Precinct 1, Place 1 Justice of the Peace Monica Caballero; Precinct 2, Place 1 candidate Byron E. Barnett; and 57th District Court judge candidate Enacio B. “Buddy” Barretto each failed to submit the 250 valid signatures required, Bexar County Democratic Party Chair Choco Meza said.
The disqualifications resulted from specific challenges filed by opponents in their races, Meza said. Signatures were excluded for a wide range of reasons, she said.
