Toulouse Gunman's Brother 'Could Face Charges'

The brother of the Toulouse gunman who shot dead seven people before being killed has appeared before a judge to face possible charges of complicity in the murders and planning terror attacks, prosecutors have said.

Abdelkader Merah is the 29-year-old sibling of Mohammed, the 23-year-old who was killed by a police sniper on Thursday.

The older brother and his girlfriend, who has since been released, were taken for questioning on Wednesday after Mohamed was killed by a police sniper at the end of a 30-hour siege at his flat in Toulouse.

A post-mortem examination showed he was hit by more than 20 bullets.

During the standoff, Mohammed admitted killing three Jewish schoolchildren, a rabbi and three soldiers in three separate attacks.

Abdelkader said he was proud of his brother's actions and admitted he was present when his brother stole the powerful scooter on which he fled after carrying out the murders, police said. Read More
