The dreaded H1N1 virus has reared its ugly head again with twelve dead and 129 infected during the past three weeks in the country.

"It is expected to spread in pockets which had remained unaffected earlier. People might have developed immunity in areas where the flu had struck earlier," Dr V.M. Katoch, director general, Indian Council of Medical Research, said.

Of the 12 deaths, six were reported in Maharashtra, five in Rajasthan and one in Andhra Pradesh. Moreover, Maharashtra has reported 69 cases of infection, followed by Rajasthan (28), Andhra Pradesh (27) and Karnataka (5).

Officials said there is no need to panic as drugs are available to control the flu. Source
