Coca-Cola and Pepsi are altering their formulas in the Unites States due to California law that authorizes drinks containing a definite level of carcinogens bear a cancer warning label.

The firms said the modifications to the way they compose the caramel coloring will be extended in the US to reorganize their manufacturing methods. The changes have already been made for drinks sold in California. It has not altered the formula in Britain or Europe until now.

Coca-Cola and PepsiCo description for approximately 90% of the soda market, according to industry follower Beverage Digest. A spokesman for Dr Pepper Snapple Group Inc. was not right now available for any remarks.

The American Beverage Association, which symbolizes the greater industry, said its member corporation will carry on to use caramel coloring in certain products but that changes were made to fulfill California's new standard.

"Customers will observe no distinction in our products and have no cause at all for any health concerns," the association stated in a statement.

A spokesman for Coca-Cola, Diana Garza-Ciarlante, said the company instructed its caramel suppliers to change their manufacturing procedure to decrease the levels of the chemical 4-methylimidazole, which can be formed during the cooking process and consequently may be found in trace amounts in numerous foods.

"While we consider that there is no mass health risk that validates any such modification, we did ask our caramel suppliers to take this move so that our products would not be subject to the prerequisite systematically unfounded warning," Garza-Giarlante said in an email.

The Centre for Science in the Public Interest, a customer advocacy group, in February filed a case with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration to ban the use of ammonia-sulphite caramel coloring.

A representative for the Food and Drug Administration said the petition is being evaluated.

But he noted that a customer would have to drink in excess of 1,000 cans of soda a day to reach the doses administered that have appeared association to cancer in rodents.

The American Beverage Association noted that California further said the coloring to its list of carcinogens with no studies showing that it causes cancer in humans. It noted that the listing was on the basis of a sole study in lab mice and rats

Despite all of the hype and attention surrounding these very expensive nuptials, Kim says she has remained calm in these last few days as a single lady, saying,"Everyone says you'll freak out, but I'm totally calm."

The reality star dished to Ryan Seacrest's on his KIIS-FM radio show Friday, that she'll be Mrs. Humphries at home, but always be Kim Kardashian "on the street." Kim also hinted there may be more than one outfit change for her on her special day and certainly no shortage of surprises for her guests.

Kim's pal, Nicole Richie, had a little something to do with her dress choice. Richie came to Kim with a vision for her big day look, Kim dished to Seacrest, telling her that the Vera Wang gown she will walk down the aisle in needs to be "timeless" and " really old Hollywood," which is exactly what we can expect to see when the dress is revealed.

Kim's mom, Kris Jenner, sent a special message to her daughter for the big day, sharing a childhood memory of her "princess angel" and offering well wishes. "I am so very proud of you and I am so happy you have found such happiness!" Kim and Kris have had a whirlwind romance over the last eight months, though not as quick as baby sister Khloe. 

Rumors first sparked that Kim and Kris were a pair in December of 2010 and it wasn't long before Kim was tweeting childhood photos of her sweetheart,hinting that she'd like to have kids that look just like him! A few months later Kris popped the question, presented Kim with a $2 million engagement ring and the rest is history.

A wastewater treatment plant has gained some notoriety after workers spotted a capybara three weeks ago.

The animal came out of a wastewater pond at the plant in Paso Robles in San Luis Obispo County and paddled around in the water before reaching the Salinas River.

Capybaras are the world’s largest rodents -– they can reach the size of a small dog -– and are often described as a mix between a rat and a guinea pig. They’re nocturnal and semi-aquatic, and prefer habits with dense vegetation and access to water. They are illegal to own as a pet in California.

The rodents aren’t dangerous, “just weird looking,” said Department of Fish and Game spokesman Andrew Hughan.

“Somebody probably brought it in as a pet and they either got away or people couldn’t deal with it anymore,” Hughan said. “It’s no harm. It’s just going to root around.”

It's not the first time a capybara has been spotted in Paso Robles, said Lt. Todd Tognazzini of the Department of Fish and Game. Game wardens received a report about three years ago of a capybara in a pond near Hunter Ranch Golf Course, but because there were no other sightings and beavers live in the area, they thought it was a mistaken report.

Eight months later, a man who was feeding his horses said a large rodent-like creature came up, scared his horses away, ate some hay and then chased after a dog. The man fired a shotgun at the animal to protect his dog, and called wildlife officials after it left the property. Wardens confirmed footprints at the scene were that of a capybara, but traps they set caught nothing, and no other sightings were reported.

Until a few weeks ago. Wardens looked at photographs taken by workers at the wastewater plant and confirmed the animal in the pictures was an adult capybara weighing 100 to 120 pounds. Tognazzini thinks the same animal was responsible for the previous sightings.

Workers at the wastewater plant are still talking about the discovery.

"He'd come up and look at us and go back down," employee Nick Kamp told KSBY-TV.   "At times, it would swim with its head just out of the water, and other times, it would swim totally submerged.
