Welcome back welcome signs

I wondered what happened to the signs a few years back.
I'm glad they're back.
HONDO — City leaders and residents on Wednesday cheered the return of old friends, the welcome signs beside U.S. 90 that say, “This Is God's Country — Please Don't Drive Through It Like Hell.”
“This represents Hondo, Texas,” said Lee Taylor of the Hondo Garden Club, which helped fund stone pads at each end of town on which the refurbished signs rest and which also include seating.
The iconic signs, favorite photo props among locals and visitors alike since their installation about 80 years ago, were removed around 2009 so U.S. 90 could be widened.
