Actors producing pornographic movies in Los Angeles will be necessitated to use condoms while filming, under a fresh regulation signed by the city mayor.

The new law has been greeted by health authorities but pornography industry heads say it could enforce them to dump the city.

LA's San Fernando Valley is recognized the capital of the multibillion-dollar US adult movie production.

Correspondents say it is so far unclear how the new rule will be compulsory.

The LA-based Aids Healthcare Foundation appreciated the law saying it was vital in defending adult movie stars from HIV and other sexually passed on diseases.

The foundation, which has fought for the compute for six years, said it would now search for similar condom needs anywhere in the America.

"The city of Los Angeles has made the correct thing. They've made the right thing for the actors," said foundation president Michael Weinstein.

He said his group would also be watchful in keeping track of where porn makers might move to.

Numerous of the industry's largest adult movie producers have said they might think moving just outside city restrictions.

They claimed that adult movies highlighting condoms are not as trendy and that some performers choose not to use them.

The new regulation was signed by Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa on Monday.

The city council has now ordered the police, city attorney's office and workplace safety authorities to work out how they impose the law, the Los Angeles Times reports.

Industry’s professionals guess as many as 90% of all pornographic movies produced in the US are made in Los Angeles.

Last year, pornographic movies makers across the US were temporarily shut down after an adult movie actor tested positive for HIV - the virus that trigger Aids.
