The Chinese government has publicly admitted to substituting a picture of documentary film-maker Michael Moore for 007 star Roger Moore in publicity materials for the Chinese release of the documentary film "Bowling for Columbine." Commenting on the decision, a government spokesperson said "Michael was just too fat and a bit ugly to be used to sell such an important movie, even if he did direct it." The spokesperson also added "We believe the decision was the right one."
2008 marks the first time that the 2002 Oscar-winning movie will be seen in China. It remains unclear whether the US distributor as well as Michael Moore or Roger Moore have been made aware of China's decision to falsely suggest that Roger Moore (no relation to Michael) has anything to do with the movie.
